David Brent Johari’s Window

I wanted to use a well known character to demonstrate how to use this self-awareness exercise. You fill in what you think your traits are from a set list, and then your colleagues fill in the quadrants with characteristics they see in you.

Naturally, I chose David Brent from The Office, who is notoriously lacking in self awareness, to highlight how we can develop our unseen weaknesses through this exercise. I chose to stack up his ‘known to self’-’not known to others’ quadrant with positive traits, which anyone who appreciates this delusional, self-aggrandising character would see the humour in.
